Self Employment Advice In Peterborough

There has been a rise in self-employment during the last year. The latest figures show that more than 35,000 people registered as self-employed during the time, overall lifting the total of UK residents working for themselves to just short of 4million.

The reasoning for this is fairly simple. With an increase in redundancies, a lack of good jobs and the fact that in many industries it can pay to go it alone.

Taking the step to self-employment can seem frightening for many, particularly the money side of being self-employed.

The Federation of Small Businesses says, “For someone becoming self-employed for the first time it can feel as if they are entering uncharted waters alone,” this recently called on the government to do more for those heading to the direction of self-employment. “They will need to work out how they will finance themselves until they secure their first client or contract. They are also legally obliged to register with the HMRC within three months of becoming self-employed, or risk a fine.”
