The deadline for sending paper tax returns has passed

If you are sending your tax return on paper, rather than online the deadline is midnight on the 31st October. You will need to send a tax return if you are, for example, self employed, a company director, receiving taxable income from overseas or having to pay tax that cannot be collected through PAYE. To find out if you need to submit a tax return, more details can be found on the HMRC website (www.hmrc.gov.uk).
If you miss the deadline for your tax return, you may face fines of at least £1200, so it is important that you adhere to these dates. Even for being a day late, you will be fined £100 and the amount will continue to rise the later you are in filing your submission. For online submissions, the deadline is the 31st of January. If you need any help with your taxes, contact HMRC, or alternatively consider hiring an accountant to make sure you don’t miss those important deadlines.
